Robot Guitar

Posted in Music on November 14th, 2007 by admin – Be the first to comment

Gibson guitars has come up with the newest innovation in 70 years for the electric guitar.

The robot guitar. After 15 years of work they are now releasing a guitar that will automatically keep in tune. Yep you heard me no stopping every few songs to tune, or to change to special tunings for certain songs. This guitar can switch between tunings with 6 diffrent non standard tunings. So you can easily switch to tunings to play “Honky Tonk Women” by The Rolling Stones and Hendrix’s “Voodoo Child” to Led Zeppelin’s “Going to California” and Joni Mitchell’s “The Circle Game.”

Gibson will launch 4,000 limited edition, blue silverburst Les Gibson Robot Guitars around the world on December 7 at a price in the region of $2,500. It expects to roll out a standard robot edition starting in January 2008.

This guitar is targeted from amateurs that have a hard time keeping their guitars tuned to professionals that have multiple guitars with different tunings.

With all innovations this is not without its criticism. “I’m sorry, this is just lazy. With stuff like this, tuning is going to be a lost skill,” wrote LettheBassPlay on the Ultimate Guitar Web site forum.

‘Guitar Hero’ is rockin’ the game charts

Posted in music games on November 14th, 2007 by admin – Be the first to comment

Last week, Activision announced that Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, the latest iteration of its hit video game franchise, had hauled in $115 million in its first week of sales.

That’s not bad, especially when you consider that most movies don’t make that much in their first week. The numbers do pale, however, in comparison to the $170 million Halo 3 earned on its first day earlier this year. For Activision, the instant success of Guitar Hero III is proof that its reported $100 million purchase of the game’s publisher, RedOctane, has paid immediate dividends. And it puts a great deal of pressure on Harmonix, the original developer of Guitar Hero, to do well with its own new title, Rock Band

But there is little doubt that fans of the original Guitar Hero are still fans of Harmonix. So there is equal pressure on Activision and its game developer Neversoft going forward to prove that they can sustain the franchise’s leadership position.

Since Christmas will soon be upon us, we at Alberts Gifts thought it appropriate to give some love to another provider of music gifts, but one in which is not a direct competitor of ours. Nevertheless, we came across the site Music Room which has a link to a plethora of books about, none other than Music!  Musicroom  is the world’s best selection of sheet music, books about music, tuition books, music software, and instruments & accessories.

Ironically enough this is very similar to Alberts Gifts being the largest manufacturer of music gifts in the world. That to us, sounds very synergystic.

Established in 1995, Musicroom.com is part of the Music Sales Group, a long-established international organization specializing in the publication and distribution of printed music. Musicroom.com ships to over 300,000 customers in over 100 countries worldwide.

Because they are the world’s largest online retailer of sheet music, tutor methods, instructional DVDs & videos, music software and instruments & accessories. Musicroom has to house everything in a state-of-the-art, 150,000 square foot warehouse in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, England.  When you get a chance, check them out. Of course this is after you have spent a little money on music gifts from Alberts Gifts!

Masters Of Bad Behaviour

It’s hardly enough to play good music to gain world success and rule the world music scene. The success is usually accompanied by rumours, increasingly of a negative character. It’s bad boys, women usually fancy.

Music Inside Us

Everyone of us has music inside. And it is not an abstract statement, but scientifically proved fact. Molecules of DNA ’sound’ inside us and it is very important if music from outside is in keeping with music inside us.

Rap Is More than Music

This is a style that stays aside all the other music trends. Not aside, but somewhat deeper. The reason is it is a reflection of the race, the plurality of people united by roots and origin. Rap is the culture of Afro-Americans, the continuation of their language and traditions. Rap is a mixture of speech and music, actually it is speech laid on music or beat it’s better to say. And when we claim that people are united through music, meaning every single human being on this planet, rap unites
