Brittany Murphy Dies at 32.

Another celebrity death has come in 2009.  It’s literally a terrible year for Hollywood stars as another passes.  While Brittany Murphy wasn’t a huge star, she was in movies such as “clueless,” “8 Mile,” and various other b rated movies.  She was found collapsed in her shower by her mother and pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

A news report via TMZ.com was released yesterday as the news became official of her passing:

According to TMZ, Brittany told her family members that she was feeling very sick. It is also reported that she was hooked on prescription drugs like Vicodin which is a narcotic analgesic product used to relieve moderate to severe pain. Brittany’s friends said that series of plastic surgery operations made her dependent on painkillers. This was consider as one of the causes of her sudden death.

According to one of her neighbors, Brittany seems dead while she was on a stretcher. Firefighters brought her to the fire truck and tried to resuscitate her. Her husband wandered around and didn’t know what to do as the firefighters put tubes down his wife’s throat. Brittany was transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and was pronounced dead on arrival at 10:04 a.m. by Sally Stewart, hospital spokeswoman.

LAPD spokeswoman Norma Eisenman said that they were investigating the cause of her death. Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said that there’s no foul play and it appears that she died of natural causes. Monjack refused to allow an autopsy for unknown reason but the L.A. County Coroner’s office will still conduct an autopsy.

It’s certainly another tragedy among young stars, as another one passes away way to soon.

Happy Holidays From Alberts Gifts!

Posted in Music on December 18th, 2009 by admin – 1 Comment

Well, it’s almost that time.  In fact next week starts the rush of Christmas, family, and great food!  We here at Alberts Gifts wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season as we prepare for the new year.  It’s amazing how fast time changes and progresses as we all become a year older.

The music industry changes constantly, we’ve lost a superstar in Michael Jackson, not to mention the world famous guitarist Les Paul.  It’s a strange world we live in, and certainly nothing really shocks us anymore.  It seems to be more influential when a musician passes away because of the feelings they put us through with their music.  Either way, the world continues to turn and we’ve all learned as this year goes by.  It’s coming to a close and here’s to it ended safely and as happily possible.

Alberts Gifts has undergone some transformation blog wise this year, and it’s a good thing I believe.  Were doing what we can to provide you music gift ideas as well as current and relevant stories that are happening or have just happened in the music world.

As of right now, all we can do is wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season!  Enjoy it!

I also must inform you that our wonderful holiday sale is ending on AlbertsGifts.com.  You have two days left to receive free shipping on orders over $25, of course ground/domestic.  Take advantage of the sale, even if your gifts may arrive after Christmas.  It’s a deal that you just can’t pass up.

MySpace hopes high with UK launch

Myspace, the ever growing entertainment mogul that it is, looks to enlarge it’s reach by growing into the United Kingom’s music industry.  This is both good and bad for the once mega social media giant.  It’s been rivaled by facebook and was finally beat by them as king of social media networks, so now Myspace is reeling and looking to re-invent themselves to stay relevant.

A quote from the Yahoo article is as follows, detailing what Myspace aims to do in grabbing a piece of the pie in the music industry:

MySpace Music is already up and running in the United States, and aims to combine music content in the form of songs, videos, artist profiles, playlists and charts with social networking allowing fans to share their discoveries online.

Access to the site is free, but News Corp-owned MySpace aims to make money through advertising and by taking a share of sales of concert tickets and merchandise, reflecting broader diversification in the struggling music business.

Users can also purchase and download songs and albums on Apple’s iTunes digital store.

“This is indicative of the direction we want to go,” said Courtney Holt, president of MySpace Music.

“We want to be a social content and media platform and we believe heavily in the socialization of content as core to our future strategy,” he told Reuters in London.

“It’s not about just a passive listening experience. We want you to be active, we want you to go places, we want you to search for music. Music lives in places that require you to work to find it. We know our audience is hungry for discovery.”

The website is a joint venture with the four major record companies — Vivendi’s Universal Music Group, Sony Music, Warner Music Group and EMI Music — and features catalogues from independent labels and unsigned bands.

As long as it stays free then wonderful.  I personally haven’t been on Myspace in 2+ years, as Facebook is the only relevant thing I use aside from Twitter.  So here’s to Myspace again finding their niche and being innovators of music and social networking/media.
